What Will the Canberra Light Rail Stage 2A Look Like?

Stage 2A will extend the Canberra light rail from the City to Commonwealth park.

Ever wondered what it’s going to look like? Here is a video fly through of how stage 2A of Canberra’s Light Rail will work.

Stage 2A Light Rail Stops

Stage 2A of Canberra’s Light Rai will add three new stops:

  • Edinburgh Avenue – This will service the western side of London Circuit including ANU and the New Acton Precinct.
  • City South – This stop is at the top of Commonwealth Avenue. While there isn’t a lot here right now, there are plans to develop the Acton Waterfront Estate. This will replace the pretty ugly above ground carparks that currently sit in this area and will connect the city to the lake.
  • Commonwealth Park Stop – This will service Commonwealth Park and the Lake. This will be a popular stop for events held at Commonwealth Park as well as those looking to walk/run/bike around the lake.

Stage 2B of Light Rail

Stage 2B is still being planned. It will take the light rail over Lake Burley Griffin and into Woden. The ACT government decided to split the project into stages to speed up development.
